GMC Defence Barristers’ lead counsel Catherine Stock has successfully argued for the lifting of a suspension order for a doctor accused of dishonestly.

Dr B qualified in 2005 from the University of London and from 2007 specialised in aesthetic cosmetic treatment. At the time of the index events Dr B was the Medical Director a clinic specialising in cosmetic injectable treatments including Botox and dermal fillers.

Dr B was accused of recording conversations between another doctor and patients without their consent.  The recorded conversations related to alleged accounting fraud.

Dr B was also accused of being misleading and dishonest in correspondence with patients.

In May 2018, Dr B’s registration was suspended for 6 months by the MPTS who found her fitness to practise impaired.  In November of the same year Dr B attended a further MPTS hearing but on this occasion her suspension was extended further.

After suffering poor legal advice and representation on both occasions, Dr B instructed Kings View Chambers to represent her.

In August 2019, a further review of Dr B’s case was undertaken with representation from Kings View Chambers’ Catherine Stock.

Catherine’s advice, strategy and representation on the day at the hearing resulted in the MPTS finding that Dr B’s fitness to practise was no longer impaired and the tribunal determined to revoke the order of suspension in place allowing Dr B to return to unrestricted practice.

Dr B:

I have had a torrid time with the GMC, something which has overshadowed me for the past 3 years. Had I had decent representation from day one, I doubt the situation would have escalated.

I have no problem recommending Catherine Stock. She is straight talking, thorough and competent. She knows how the GMC work and can help you navigate the process. They are fairly priced so you know upfront what everything is going to cost. Based on dealing with incompetent law firms, I would urge you to seek advice from Kings View Chambers – and stick with them. I don’t think there is anyone better.
